Recognition of Excellence in Urban Education Research, April 2010
- Received recognition for presentation of master’s thesis, an ethnography that focused on the implementation of a critical pedagogy curriculum in an urban charter high school English classroom
English Senior Thesis Award, May 2008
- Received award for best English undergraduate senior thesis; the thesis focused on the masculine/queer dichotomy as protest in selected works of expatriate literature by Ernest Hemingway and Federico Garcia Lorca
Scripps College Crombie Allan Award, May 2008, May 2005
- Received award for best work of undergraduate creative fiction for short stories “Siempre Madrid” and “I Hope You Know That This Will Go Down on Your Permanent Record,” respectively
Rachael lives, works, and writes in Los Angeles. Her writing has previously appeared in The Los Angeles Times, her short stories have twice won the Crombie Allan Award, and an excerpt from her manuscript, KING, was long-listed for the SFWP fiction prize. She is a current MFA candidate at Antioch University.
